Constant Crashing when adding files from folders.

Post by kevin1968 » Thu May 31, 2012 2:51 am

When I try to add files (mp3,wma,etc.) to the program, it locks up the program or crashes.
Here is one of my crash reports that I was able to save:

Sorry to post so much, but this is only a couple of the numerous crashes I have had and hopefully they will give enough information to find the problem and fix.
It seems to happen when I input .wma and some .mp3's into the program. (Mostly .wma files)
I have been converting my .wma files to .mp3's and they seem to be accepted by the program; although, some .mp3's do crash the program sometimes.

Thank you for reporting the problem. Does this happen consistently (that is, can you repeat the problem on the same set of files, preferrably on a single album or even a single file :) )? Are your files stored locally?

Thanks for the reply Vlad.

It happens very consistently with wma files. About 75% of my wma files fail or crash the program.
The strange thing is that some wma files have scanned ok with no problem.(The other 25%).
When I try to input .wma files into the program. It either fake scans the files(scans the files but leaves the lines blank) or it locks up the program and crashes.
The only time I remember it acting up putting in a mp3 file was after I had tried to do a wma file.
So far I have converted some of my problem wma files to 320kbps mp3's and they have been accepted by the program.

All my files are stored on my 1TB HP Personal Media Drive. (I have 74.2GB worth of music that I need to scan into the program.)
My computer is a HP Pavilion Media Center m8000n.
AMD Athlon 64X2 Dual-Core Processor 5200+
Windows Vista Home Premium

I have been told that mp3 is better then wma and that I need to convert all my wma files to mp3 because most players and iphones/ipods will not play wma files.
I had purchased a program recommended to me called Protected Music Converter Professional 1.5.2 to convert my wma, mp4, and other files all to mp3.
I just don't know much about the different qualities of files and what is actually easier to work with and which is better.

I used Musicmatch Jukebox Professional software for years until Yahoo screwed it up. I then started using J. River Media Jukebox software but really didn't like the search function and it sometimes screwed up my collection. Itunes was and is a joke.
Then musicnizer came along and now I am scanning my 74.2GB worth of music into it and I am only at 4GB because I am having so many crashes with my wma files.
Should I just go ahead and convert all my files to mp3 ? Or is there something you might know better. I haven't even started to transfer my CD's to my drive yet.

Thanks for all three wonderful programs and thanks for all the help. Hope everyone has a happy and safe weekend.
